Peachy facts

The Romans called peaches “Persian Apples”, naming them after the country that introduced peaches to the West. Persian Appley Removals - not quite the same ring to it, what do you think?

The term, “You’re a real peach” originated from the tradition of giving a peach to a good friend.

Like the plum and the apricot, the peach is a member of the rose family, distinguished by its velvety skin. It is classified as a drupe, a fruit with a hard stone.

The juice from peaches makes a great moisturiser and can be found in many brands of cosmetics.

Peaches originated in China. Archaeologists believe that peaches were first domesticated along the Yangzi River, where they have found fossilised peach stones believed to be from 6,000 BC.

August 22 is National Eat a Peach Day.
